The different types of dump trucks

Dump trucks are a great resource and tool, especially for those who own construction, contracting, or earth-moving companies. Commercial rental agencies offer dump trucks for rental, but purchasing a truck may be a beneficial long term investment for those who use them frequently. Due to the high costs of purchase this type of investment needs to be considered carefully.

Dump trucks are used to haul all sorts of materials, especially loose substances like sand, loam, gravel, and more. The dumping portion of the truck is usually operated using a hydraulics system, allowing the operator to dump the bed from inside the cab of the truck. These trucks can be found with different sized beds as well as various truck components. The typical truck has one front axle and multiple rear axles that often have dual wheels on each side of the bed. There are different  kinds of bodies available for these trucks. Some dump from the back like the traditional dump truck, while others can open up from the bottom or spill their load to the side.

It is important to park such a truck on a level surface before engaging the dumping mechanism. Failing to do so can result in tipping. This is why operating this type of vehicle requires a special license and training. If you are renting the vehicle you will need to provide the correct license and undergo a safety demonstration before you take posession of the vehicle.
